Midfielder waves aside rumours

Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has been playing down reports of a possible switch to Manchester United in January.

"My focus now remains with my team Celtic, whom I want to help in both the domestic and Champions League" - Victor Wanyama
That follows further talk of Old Trafford manager Sir Alex Ferguson again despatching club scouts to monitor the progress of the 21-year-old Kenyan international.

Wanyama originally joined Celtic from Beerschot AC in the summer of 2011 and was a key performer whilst helping his side towards the title last season.

This time around his attentions have also included the Champions League and Wanyama starred in the group stage victory at Spartak Moscow only last week.

Meanwhile, Hoops boss Neil Lennon has already been in regular discussions with his representatives over extending his current deal at Parkhead.

"I have heard a lot about my intended move to several clubs, the latest being Manchester United," Wanyama told supersport.com, reports stv.tv

"Personally I just think those are rumours. My focus now remains with my team Celtic, whom I want to help in both the domestic and Champions League."
