Teenager writes himself into history

Victorious Celtic manager Neil Lennon praised the composure of substitute Tony Watt after coming on to score the winner
against Barcelona.

"He has written himself into the history books of the club" - Neil Lennon
The former Airdrie striker completely belied his tender eighteen years with a superbly taken finish with seven minutes remaining to double Celtic's lead against the Spanish giants.

Barcelona managed a late response through Lionel Messi after Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama had earlier headed the Scottish champions in front.

"It is a phenomenal thing he has done so early in his career," Lennon told BBC Scotland. "I said before the game I had no hesitation in playing him but we felt his lack of experience would have been a bit too much to put him in the starting line-up.

"But he came on and he did everything we asked him to do," he added. "He scored a brilliant goal and I felt he should have had a penalty when he got the other side of Javier Mascherano. The kid is learning and he has written himself into the history books of the club."
