Fitness race for goal aces

Both of Celtic's goal heroes against Barcelona are facing a race to be fit for next week's crucial visit to Benfica.

"I'm recuperating well under the team doctor and will be back in training either tomorrow or Monday" - Victor Wanyama
Following two victories and a draw from their opening four group games, the Scottish champions could secure themselves qualification into the last sixteen of the competition in Lisbon.

But their goalscorers from their memorable 2-1 triumph against the Catalans, Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt, have recently joined Gary Hooper and James Forrest in the treatment room.

Watt hurt his ankle during the weekend draw with St Johnstone but still managed to claim his sixth goal of the season. He was though forced to withdraw from midweek Scotland Under-21 duty and is already very doubtful to face Aberdeen this weekend.

Meanwhile, Wanyama also missed out on international action due to a recent virus and might not yet return to training until Monday - the day before the Benfica tie.

"I contracted a throat infection after our match against Barcelona so I could not travel to Kenya," he told the Glasgow Evening Times. "I'm recuperating well under the team doctor and will be back in training either tomorrow or Monday."

However, Lassad Nouioui has recovered from a groin problem and could come into contention alongside fellow striker Miku for the weekend as their side chase a return to the top of the table.
