Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby expects their forthcoming Champions League last-sixteen tie to help them keep hold of their leading players in January.

"This should be a great incentive for them to stay here at Celtic" - Johan Mjallby
Strikers Gary Hooper and Georgios Samaras, together with Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama, have all been linked with possible moves elsewhere in recent times.

But Mjallby reckons the continuing lure of involvement in Europe's top club competition should prove too strong for them to resist.

"This should be a great incentive for them to stay here at Celtic and take us forward," he told Sky Sports. "You never know where it's going to take us.

"If we hadn't gone through and done as well as we have I think maybe some of the players who have done exceptionally well for us would maybe be interested to have another challenge."

Celtic were handed a second heavy drubbing by Paris St-Germain in their Champions League Group B encounter at Parc des Princes.

Both Neymar and Edinson Cavani scored twice for the hosts after Moussa Dembele had given their visitors a shock first-minute lead.

Kylian Mbappe, Marco Verratti and Dani Alves were similarly on target as the French side secured their biggest-ever Champions League win.
