Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama believes the winter break to have been very beneficial following a heavy recent schedule of games.

"I really enjoyed the break but we are now back at work" - Victor Wanyama
The much-admired playmaker took the opportunity to visit his family back home in Kenya for the first time in six months. But he is now back working with the rest of the Celtic squad at their training camp in Marbella.

"We have had a good rest, have removed all the fatigue we had and are feeling just great," Wanyama explained to Celtic's official website. "I went back home to see my family and it was a relief to see them as it has been a long time since I had done so.

"The last time I saw my family was back in the summer, so I took the chance and went there and was very happy to see them," he added. "I really enjoyed the break but we are now back at work which is good."

The Hoops return to SPL action when hosting Hearts at Parkhead on 19th January.

Manager Brendan Rodgers said the latest victory against Dundee in the Scottish League Cup served to highlight the depth of his available squad.

Dundee 0 Celtic 4

Holders Celtic moved into the Scottish League Cup semi-finals with a 4-0 victory against Dundee at Dens Park.

The always lively Scott Sinclair's penalty earned them a first-half lead improved by James Forrest just prior to the break.

However, the Hoops were forced to wait until very late in the contest before substitute Callum McGregor and Forrest (again) added further goals.
