Celtic look to go further clear

Celtic can move a dozen points clear at the top of the SPL with victory against Dundee United this evening.

"It was very encouraging to see how the team performed at the weekend" - Johan Mjallby
Goalkeeper Fraser Forster was again set to miss out with a stiff neck while Adam Matthews and Kris Commons remain minor doubts following the 4-1 home win over Hearts.

Defender Efe Ambrose is on African Nations Cup duty with Nigeria and centre-back partner Kelvin Wilson is suspended and therefore join James Forrest and Paddy McCourt on the sidelines.

"Usually when we play them they are very competitive and tight games," assistant manager Johan Mjallby told BBC Scotland. "They have got plenty of good players that can hurt you so we need to be at our best.

"But it was very encouraging to see how the team performed at the weekend and hopefully we do the same and it will be hard for Dundee United," he added.

Like Celtic, the visitors were successful at the weekend when beating Kilmarnock 3-2 at Rugby Park, courtesy of a Johnny Russell hat-trick.

They are boosted by the return of Stuart Armstrong (family illness), Richie Ryan (hamstring) and Brian McLean (suspension).
