Manager Neil Lennon considered Celtic's Scottish Communities League Cup semi-final defeat against St Mirren as one of the worst performances under his leadership.

"That's as bad as we've played for a long time under me" - Neil Lennon
The Buddies earned a final meeting with Hearts in March through a 3-2 scoreline at Hampden Park. Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew were on the mark for the Hoops but the former Aberdeen defender also both missed and conceded a penalty.

"That was as poor as we've played this season," Lennon admitted to
BBC Scotland. "We were poor defensively, half-hearted in midfield, and apart from Gary Hooper going forward, we were tepid.

"There was no leadership and I'm not pointing the finger at Scott Brown for that at all," he continued. "I got a response from the players at half-time, but the turning point was the two penalties - I didn't think either of them were.

"We had a great opportunity to get to a final again, and that's as bad as we've played for a long time under me; I'm struggling to find the answers."

Celtic virtually seal title

Celtic are so close to a fifth straight league title following a 3-1 victory at Hearts.

Striker Colin Kazim-Richards earned them an early lead cancelled out by Abiola Dauda after the break.

However, Patrick Roberts and Leigh Griffiths later seized upon defensive slips to both restore and extend the advantage respectively.

The Hoops had the ball in the net on twelve minutes through Callum McGregor after Neil Alexander parried from Roberts. But an offside flag was raised.
