Lennon corners authorities for clarification

Celtic are to seek clarification from UEFA regarding the refereeing for their Champions League second-leg tie at Juventus.

"There were pictures of the shirt coming off Gary Hooper's back" - Neil Lennon
Manager Neil Lennon complained the Italian champions were fouling at every set-piece situation on the way to a decisive 3-0 victory at Celtic Park.

Spanish referee Alberto Undiano Mallenco did warn those responsible on more than one occasion but then refused to further punish them and award a penalty, despite persistent holding throughout the game.

"We will compile a DVD, send it to Uefa and see what kind of answers we get," Lennon told BBC Scotland. "You don't see our players doing that. There were pictures of the shirt coming off Gary Hooper's back, credit to him for keeping his cool.

"We made sure the referee was aware of it and he was looking at it time and again and Juventus went unpunished," he added. "We needed a strong referee and we didn't have that."

Celtic was badly treated by the referee and really UEFA should openly state what it thinks about the refereeing in this particular game. It is not correct that some teams are treated favourably like Juventus now. This brings into the memory a particular CFC v Barca game, which also looked corrupt by UEFA and/or the referee.
