Lennon blames bad calls

Celtic manager Neil Lennon felt his side were harshly treated by the referee in their first league defeat of the season at Aberdeen.

The Hoops were always up against it after Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk was sent-off early in the 2-1 loss and they also saw a later penalty claim ignored by official Craig Thomson.

"I think we've been done by the ref, I don't think it's a sending off," Lennon told BBC Scotland. "Then there was a clear handball in the second half that everyone could see, even the referee saw. It's ridiculous.

"I think the sending off had a huge bearing and influence on the game. It's so early in the game," he added. "I've seen it maybe two or three times now, and I'm still adamant that it's not a red card. We've been done by two crucial decisions which could have swayed the game either way."
