Celtic are signing a young goalkeeping prospect from under the noses of Liverpool and Everton.

"I recognise that when Celtic come calling it is hard to resist" - Allan Maitland
Joshua Rae is only thirteen years of age but already a 6'1" goalkeeper who just days ago made his debut for the closing minutes of Hamilton Academical's Under-20s victory against Partick Thistle.

He was due to undergo a second trial with Liverpool and had also interested their greatest rivals Everton, until his family stepped in and declared his future remained in Scotland. Rae had previously been with Celtic and also had a trial at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid last year.

"His family have decided his future lies with Celtic. I am disappointed to lose another player," Accies director Allan Maitland admitted to BBC Scotland. "But I recognise that, as a Celtic supporter, when Celtic come calling, it is hard to resist.

"My argument was that he has developed better with us since leaving Celtic two years ago," he added. "But he will be signing for Celtic next week after he attends a Scotland trial."
