The top two sides meet at Celtic Park as the hosts tackle second-placed Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon.

"It will be a stern test as Aberdeen will be confident as they have two straight wins now against us" - Johan Mjallby
Celtic could be without Greek striker Georgios Samaras due to illness against a team who have beaten them in their last two meetings.

"It will be a stern test as Aberdeen will be confident as they have two straight wins now against us," assistant manager Johan Mjallby told BBC Scotland. "But it's important for us to show we are the best team in Scotland.

"They deserved to win the Cup game. We did not show up for that game and at the time we didn't know why because we were on a good run," he continued. "Champions should be consistent and hungry and I want to finish my time here as assistant manager with three wins."

Dons defender Andrew Considine is out for the rest of the season with hamstring trouble while full-back Joe Shaughnessy is doubtful. Forward Peter Pawlett has though recovered.

Celtic moved into the Champions League group stage despite a 4-3 qualifying play-off second-leg defeat at FC Astana.

The Hoops already carried a resounding 5-0 advantage from the opening game, but it was suddenly reduced when Dimitri Shomko's 26th minute effort was deflected into his own net by Kristoffer Ajer.

However, Scott Sinclair soon curled a superb reply, although Serikzhan Muzhikov and Patrick Twumasi both struck during a two-minute spell early in the second-half.
