Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill believes assistant Roy Keane's situation should be resolved by early next week.

"They've a certain number of days to try and do something" - Martin O'Neill
Keane has been given a deadline of Wednesday to decide whether he is going to succeed Neil Lennon at Celtic Park.

The Irish squad are currently preparing to fly out to America for a two-game tour.

"In the next few days the situation will resolve itself," O'Neill commented in the Daily Record. "Whether it goes into Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, I'd imagine the situation would be sorted by then.

"Celtic are actively seeking a manager and they've a certain number of days to try and do something," he added. "They will want a man in place for when they come back for pre-season as their season starts pretty early. They've got the Champions League qualifiers in July."
