Former West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has emerged as favourite for the Celtic vacancy following Republic of Ireland assistant boss Roy Keane ruling himself out.

"He decided not to pursue the informal talks that took place with Celtic any further" -
Irish FA statement
Keane, 42, will instead remain working under Martin O'Neill for the Republic of Ireland rather than succeeding Neil
Lennon at Celtic Park.

"The Football Association of Ireland today confirmed that Roy Keane will travel with the Republic of Ireland squad to the US after he decided not to pursue the
informal talks that took place with Celtic any further," read an Irish FA statement.

His decision appears to now leave 50-year-old Clarke as the leading candidate for the position ahead of Malky Mackay and Owen Coyle.
