Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster is finally closing in on a move to Southampton after a fee of in the region of £10m was agreed between the two clubs.

The Hoops had rejected an earlier approach for the England international but the deal appears set to be completed over the weekend subject to the usual medical.

Forster has already agreed personal terms having originally joined Celtic from Newcastle United for £2m in July 2012 and following a couple of successful loan spells. His former club would be entitled to 25% of any transfer fee.

He has spent the past four seasons at Parkhead and impressed sufficiently for his recent inclusion in the England squad at this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.

His body language screams he doesn't want to be here. Clearly made the same mistake as many gefore him, listening to the anti-SPL gang. Celtic made him. It'll be interesting to see how well he does without the Celtic backing. He isn't the first to be fooled onto thinking he deserves better than Celtic. But he isn't going to be first to find out life after Celtic is a mistake either. His performances against Legia Warsaw were awful. Southampton! Really? Good ridance Fraser.

Rodgers impressed with depth

Manager Brendan Rodgers said the latest victory against Dundee in the Scottish League Cup served to highlight the depth of his available squad.

Dundee 0 Celtic 4

Holders Celtic moved into the Scottish League Cup semi-finals with a 4-0 victory against Dundee at Dens Park.

The always lively Scott Sinclair's penalty earned them a first-half lead improved by James Forrest just prior to the break.

However, the Hoops were forced to wait until very late in the contest before substitute Callum McGregor and Forrest (again) added further goals.
