'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Los Angeles eye David Beckham

Los Angeles Galaxy have declared their interest in former England captain David Beckham if he decides not to sign a new contract with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who has been passed-over by England boss Steve McClaren, has been out of favour at Real Madrid recently.

Celtic have also been linked with a move for Beckham and, while Gordon Strachan has laughed-off the suggestion, chief executive Peter Lawwell claimed the recent rumours linking the former Manchester United star with a move to Parkhead are good for the club (see here).

Galaxy boss Alexi Lalas said: 'There are thousands of clubs out there that would love to have a player of his calibre. And the Los Angeles Galaxy is certainly one of them.'

Lalas added that Beckham moving Stateside would be a great move for the sport nationally, as well as for Galaxy.

Beckham has previously expressed an interest in finishing his career in the USA, although that was thought to be a few years away, and he has a football academy in Los Angeles.

Other clubs thought to be interested include Spurs and Israeli outfit Maccabi Netanya. While Beckham has seemingly ruled-out a return to England, and is unlikely to move to Israel, Galaxy's stumbling block is the wage-cap in place in Major League Soccer.

It's not going to happen, but it is good to see that his career has slumped to the level of being linked to a move to Israel!

I assume that no-one is honestly expecting Mr Victoria Beckham to ever turn-out for us? But I agree with the above poster, it fun to see!

Look at the list of clubs who are interested and then think again. He won't go to Israel, the US would be seen as retirement this early, he won't play in England and that leaves us. No, I doubt it will happen - I reckon he'll keep playing "warm the bench for Euros" but it's not that far-fetched. What I do think is that if he does move, it will be somewhere we least expect - such as Newcastle, the place footballers go to die :-D

Could happen. I'd not put money on it, though. Good PR, if nothing else.
