Skipper available for Old Firm semi-final

Skipper available for Old Firm semi-final

Celtic skipper Scott Brown will be available to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the weekend.

That follows the champions planning to lodge an appeal over his late sending-off in the 2-2 draw at Ross County on Sunday.

Brown was dismissed for his challenge on Liam Boyce and would normally receive a two-match suspension.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had earlier told BBC Scotland: "Scotty has gone in and caught the boy late, but I'd have to see it again. Scott has been brilliant this season. He's never once made a challenge like that.

"In his defence, the referee was letting a lot go on him," he added. "But that was the referee's making. It was a poor end to the game."

We should have scored more - Rodgers

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers believes they should have scored more than the five goals at Rangers.

Rangers 1 Celtic 5

Celtic thrashed Rangers 5-1 at Ibrox in the final Old Firm meeting of the season.

The visitors raced into an early two-goal advantage as Scott Sinclair converted a penalty after Patrick Roberts was fouled by Myles Beerman.

Leigh Griffiths' fierce drive soon added another before Callum McGregor was similarly on target following the interval.

Defender Dedryck Boyata then headed in Griffiths' free-kick, and Mikael Lustig curled a late fifth after Kenny Miller's solitary reply.<
