Fatigue cost us - Rodgers

Fatigue cost us - Rodgers

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers felt his side were suffering the after-effects of midweek Champions League commitments in their 1-1 home draw with St Johnstone.

It required an equaliser from substitute Callum McGregor with only eleven minutes remaining to finally cancel out Steven MacLean's first-half opener.

But that wasn't enough to prevent the champions from slipping down to second in the table behind new leaders Aberdeen.

"We were a bit slow in the first half," Rodgers reflected to BBC Scotland. "It was the travelling having an effect on our energy and speed.

"In this league, coming back from a Champions League game, St Johnstone are a very tough team to play against," he added. "We showed wonderful endeavour in the second half."
