Celtic boss to Man City? Never!

Reports suggest that Celtic boss Gordon Strachan could be offered the Manchester City job if the English club fail to secure Sven-Goran Eriksson.

However, on the surface at least the move seems unlikely - if only because Strachan used to play for Manchester United. But while most Celtic fans would surely prefer Strachan to continue his good work at Parkhead, there are the hardcore few who would offer him a lift to the airport.

If Sven-Goran Eriksson does make a return to club football, he could quickly re-establish himself as one of the top club managers in the world. While the English media spun all they could against him, those of us with longer memories will be aware of his top-notch record prior to becoming manager of the English national side.

In that way, even if in no other, it should be noted that somebody, somewhere, has decided that Strachan is an adequate back-up for Eriksson. Even if that person is a tabloid writer, and not a director of a football club.

Could Strachan leave Celtic in the summer? Possibly, but if he does it wouldn't be to manage Manchester City. If the Arsenal or Chelsea jobs were to need filling, however...

No, that's just taking things too far...!

Never gonna happen! At least not man city...and Eriksson is top manger people seem to forgett that he has already won the Serie A with Lazio and won the uefa cup twice i 5 years with IFK Gotheburg back in Sweden...

I certainly hope not.

The English media love Eriksson about as much as the loyal meedja up here love WGS - not a furking lot!. I hope Eriksson takes the Man City job just to GIRU the media down there, just as WGS continues to do up here...much to their annoyance!

I hope Sven gets the job just so he can prove himself again and show how it was the fault of the primadonna England players for their failings and not him!

aye sven will be the man

I believe it was merely a comment by an ex city player saying who his prefered choices were for job. We all know that it would be crazy for a celtic manager to leave us to join another club thats smaller but also in dire straits with regards to squad and success. Media both sides of border make me laugh.

It would be one of the more unlikely moves, but it's hard to know what WGS is thinking some times!

Anything he has done or said has suggested that he was at Celtic, building his own team, for the forseeable future. He seems to be getting the players he wants, with Lawwell doing the business side for him. The money men seem to be keeping their noses out of the playing side and letting him get on with that. He is proving his worth as a manager (his reputation having suffered for a few years). Why the feck would he want to go elsewhere just now.

This season is GS's big test. He has been very lucky to get into the last 16 of the CL and won the league by default 2years in a row. So he has had a pretty easy start. He has done well to recycle the squad and last season i was very impressed with him but this season he has left me bewildered. He playing ****e football and dosent seem to have the ability to motivate his players. If he laves i wont be too upset.
