Hearts 0 - Celtic 7

Tynecastle

Sun 1st Dec 3.00pm

Attendance: 10,636

Seven-up for rampant Celtic

Holders Celtic smashed seven goals without reply past Hearts in their Scottish Cup fourth round tie at Tynecastle.

Kris Commons grabbed a hat-trick as the visitors scored five times before the interval, while skipper Scott Brown added a brace alongside Joe Ledley and Mikael Lustig.

The Hoops took just three minutes to arrive on the scoreboard with Anthony Stokes and Ledley combining for Commons to finish off the far post.

Jamie Hamill struck wide in reply before Commons lashed into the top corner after a quick free-kick from Charlie Mulgrew.

Callum Paterson missed from around twenty-yards for the stunned hosts who almost fell further into arrears when Jamie MacDonald tipped over from Commons.

However, Mulgrew released Stokes to find Ledley and when his shot came back off an upright Brown applied the necessary touch.

Ledley was next as he converted Lustig's cross to the far post before the Swede spectacularly crashed in number five via the underside of the crossbar.

Jamie Walker went close to a consolation following the break until an unlucky handball decision against Danny Wilson gave Commons his hat-trick from the spot.

And Brown made it seven with a deflected drive from the edge of the area after substitute Teemu Pukki had been already denied.

How bad must Willie Collum feel this evening? Even he couldn't do anything to help Hearts. Or should I say even he could do nothing to hurt Celtic. There was of course the token ridiculous yellow cards which we expect from such an incompetent ref, but when we are this clinical Collum was helpless. Good result guys, now repeat this every week until season end.
