Celtic romp to another big win

Leaders Celtic stormed to another huge away win while scoring five goals without reply at Motherwell.

Kris Commons opened their account right on the stroke of half-time - and then proceeded to add another following the break. Efe Ambrose, Anthony Stokes and substitute Bahrudin Atajic were similarly on target.

That extended the visitors' lead at the top of the table to eight points and increased their own goal-tally to twelve in their latest two games.

Mikael Lustig threatened with an early rising drive taken by goalkeeper Gunnar Nielson, who also denied Stokes' long distance free-kick at the second attempt.

Both Commons and Teemu Pukki provided further danger before Steven Hammell survived handball claims from Scott Brown's cross.

The visitors continued to create opportunities and Lustig headed over Emilio Izaguirre's delivery towards the far post, while Pukki and Commons (twice) each tried to break the deadlock.

But the goal arrived right at the end of the opening half with Commons back-heeling into the net after Stokes had returned Pukki's cross.

Midfielder Joe Ledley nearly added another while John Sutton was wide in reply, until Ambrose headed in Mulgrew's 54th minute corner to double the advantage.

Motherwell keeper Nielsen was in action again when blocking from Brown before Mulgrew and Pukki were both wide and Ledley thwarted as the pressure continued.

Pukki was soon wrongly cautioned for simulation following a challenge inside the area - but Commons duly added a third goal after Nielsen had parried from Izaguirre.

Two minutes later Mulgrew superbly released Pukki down the right and his cross was expertly finished by Stokes.

Then after Derk Boerrigter was kept out by Nielsen at his near post, fellow substitute Atajic chipped in his first goal for the club to complete the demolition.
