Aberdeen 1 Celtic 3

1 - 3

Fri 12th May 7.45pm

Attendance: 16,015

Celtic struck three times during an explosive opening eleven minutes at Aberdeen to bring up a century of points for the season.

Defender Dedryck Boyata instantly headed them in front when registering for the third successive game and Stuart Armstrong soon added another.

Striker Leigh Griffiths rapidly grabbed a further goal for the visitors, although Jonny Hayes curled an excellent reply within sixty seconds.

On loan Patrick Roberts saw an early shot diverted wide following a trademark break into the area and Boyata headed in Griffiths' resultant corner.

Five minutes later Armstrong was on hand after Callum McGregor was initially blocked by Shay Logan, and Griffiths' left-footed effort from distance then proved too challenging for Joe Lewis.

The Dons reacted with Hayes impressively replying from twenty-yards to reduce the lead, while Jayden Stockley could even have improved on that when heading wide.

Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic saw a further attempt thwarted by Lewis before opposite number Craig Gordon superbly kept out first Kenny McLean and then Niall McGinn.

Goalscorer Boyata soon headed another opportunity just wide for the treble-chasing champions, although home claims for a penalty were waved aside as Gordon collided with Graeme Shinnie following the interval.

Aberdeen's McLean next wasted a decent opportunity when hoisting over, and McGinn similarly threatened after Scott Sinclair was already wayward at the other end.

Hoops substitute James Forrest later twice called Lewis into action as his colleagues moved to within just a couple of games of an unbeaten league campaign.
