Partick Thistle 0 Celtic 1
Fri 11th Aug 7.45pm
A single goal was enough for Celtic to make it a second successive league win at the start of the season against neighbours Partick Thistle.
Newcomer Olivier Ntcham claimed it when his strike deflected off returning skipper Scott Brown midway through the opening half.
James Forrest went close early with Tomas Cerny denying him before also sending a further effort wide. Cerny similarly kept out Nir Bitton's free-kick.
But the champions were still ahead as Ntcham's volley from the edge of the area was diverted in after Jonny Hayes' corner was initially headed out.
The hosts might well have levelled, though, when Kris Doolan headed over Christie Elliott's delivery early in the second period.
However, Kieran Tierney and Mikael Lustig each went close to extending the visitors advantage, while Jozo Simunovic was frustrated on the goal-line by Callum Booth.
Thistle newcomer Miles Storey then fell under challenge from Bitton inside the opposite area but claims for a penalty were waved aside late on.
